Carp Fishing?

i went carp fishing in the end of july. i snook into this one shallow canal where i always see carp. its kinda shallow i anchored the boat and started baiting the area with bread and corn. there are alot of ducks in this area so i guess the people in the houses feed the ducks so thats why there are carp there. but everytime i go over there it seems like the carp are never there. anyways..... after i baited the area... i waited................ and waited ............ untill 2 and a half hours later i finally hooked one up. it was a 12 lbs lunker. i was just wondering is their anywhere else i can look for carp and is there a way to catch them with less waiting?????? please help!!!!!

  1. You could try using a better bait. Google carp bait and you will see a whole bunch of dough's people make to catch them. Most have some sort of corn in them but they add flavours and coloring (jello and stuff). Make different dough's and try them out to see what they liek best. Also, you might want to try fishing for them at the best time of day since they are less active during some hours of the day. You will probably be able to find that if you google it as well. Good luck.
  2. Goldfish (carp) can be found in just about any lake, river, stream, etc. that has fish. As for catching them....well, that's why it's called "fishing".
  3. By the sounds of it you are spooking them with your boat ,what u need is their confidence try baiting up with hemp and pellets something they can hoover up and small and wont fill them up so easily and also a backup line somewhere a bit deeper then instead of fishing from your boat try it from the bank hope this helps you
  4. try night fishing you will probably get more bites at night go down to your local tackle shop and ask for a night fishing float you want the ones that you can put a little green light in the top that you snap the chemicals in and shake to activate they will last about 8 hours then bait a swim up a few hours before and fish from about 7 at night. hope this helps
  5. Ok, here's advice from the expert. Fish in 3 ft. of water or less with a grassy bottom. Use dough bait (Coors beer, Wheaties, Strawberries - mix into a dough). Bait a 3-way hook with the dough bait but leave the eye showing. Fish with a slip-sinker. That should do it.
  6. you are probably scaring the carp with your boat. try fishing from shore. about 8 ft deep water is perfect. and fish with canned corn. rinse the corn a few time and put it in a jar. fill with water to just over the amount of con and add 1 teaspoon of anise or vannila flavoring. fish with a running rig. and have your drag low or reel on free spool.
  7. I dont fish for carp but i do catch them while flyfishing for trout sometimes. I catch em on small insect patterns.
  8. Carp are one of my favorite fish! Sometimes after chumming it can take a while for them to find you bait. Try other stuff to chum with (like chick peas) and see if it's more effective. look for carp in just about any body of water that isn't prone to frequent winter or summer kills. For a great place to chat/learn/share.... www.carpanglersgroup.com carp are awesome fish and deserve more respect as a sport fish than they are given by the general angling public
  9. Yes, Carp can be VERY spooky - silence is a must !! If you know carp are in an area, get a couple cans of 'cream-style' corn, punch a few good-size holes in them and toss 'em in where you plan to fish. That corn juice & scent will draw them in big-time !!! (again, it might take a little while for the scent to dispurse)
