Does anybody use heavy course tackle when sea fishing?
When i'm sea fishing i can't seem to cast my beechcaster very far (i'm sure it's just my technique). I'm thinking of taking my carp gear maybe a 2.75lb test rod or a 4lb spod rod, hoping that the extra flex in the rod will give me that extra distance. Is there any other pros or cons anyone has experienced?

- yeah.i have and still do ;but realise ;that sea tackle is designed specifically for sea fishing .so it has to be more robust than coarse tackle.beach casting is a real strain on a coarse rod .even a good carp rod; so i suggest you keep at it with your sea tackle ;practice at beach casting i am sure you wiil get better at it. ps ive knackered two coarse rods sea fishing over past few years .so take my advice .use the right tools for the right job ..tight lines.
- You're casting problem is your technique not the rod, with a beach caster you should be able to cast allot further than with a coarse rod, if you get a good fish then you will have some trouble landing it with a little carp rod, they do have their uses when fishing for mackerel with a small spinner, but anything else stick to a beach caster, it has more power in the blank to play larger fish, also get some saltwater casting lessons, they aren't expensive and you can learn allot of things, make sure your using a fixed spool reel to start with.
- sea rods are built for the job were carp rods are not, tho when i use to fish for bass and flounder in the local creek(cleethorpes)using 2oz bombs i use to fish with a 2 1/2oz test curb carp rob and loved it.
- I wouldn't try it over rocky ground but sand and shingle sounds like fun
